In the Arctic quilt pattern features a polar bear traveling from one ice flow to another in search of seals with the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) in full view over the sea. Polar bears are only found in the northern frozen wilds. A polar bear asks another bear for food through a nose-to-nose greeting. The guest bear will approach slowly, circle around a carcass, then delicately touch the feeding bear’s nose to ask for permission to share.
This wall hanging can be made individually or combined with the other four Aurora Nights series of patterns to create a large 42 1/2" x 59" combined wall hanging. The last photo shows the combined wall hanging using all five patterns.
Wildfire Designs Alaska patterns are designed for fusible applique, so I recommend that you use an Applique Pressing Sheet. The pattern contains a layout guide, full size applique pattern pieces that are already reversed, and instructions. Although the instructions do not say this, I recommend that all the applique pieces should be sewn down to the quilt top after fusing using the stitch of your choice (straight stitch, zig-zag, buttonhole or satin stitch). All the original fabrics shown on the pattern cover are Hoffman Fabrics batiks.
